Joyce is passionate about sustainability, youth leadership development, and uplifting the lives of women globally. While studying at UC Riverside, she helped start the campus’s first community garden and diverted waste from university events. As part of the Energy Service Corps, she worked on weatherization projects throughout California and taught community members about energy efficiency. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science, Joyce has been a community organizer in San Francisco – organizing neighborhood cleanups throughout the city and leading efforts to increase public awareness of the effects of sugary sweetened beverages on public health. She has also worked tirelessly to increase funding of health programs in San Francisco. Joyce loves to travel and has spent a month in her home country, Thailand, observing sustainable farming practices and volunteering at local schools.
