Dena hails from sunny San Diego, though much prefers the complexity of the Bay Area. Her background is in wildlife biology, with an emphasis on conservation and ornithology. She is currently the Editorial Board Experience Manager at non-profit academic publisher, PLOS. In the past, she has worked as a conservation biologist at the San Diego Zoo and City of Carlsbad, a barista at Starbucks, and a mink oil salesperson at the local county fair. Only some of these experiences are useful. She loves volunteering, civic engagement, and helping others develop professionally and looks forward to sharing these passions with the women of WEN.
