Soko MadeChair, Membership

Soko is a feisty environmentalist who is passionate about sustainability and women’s rights and is striving to make a difference in the world.  As the City Government Zero Waste Senior Coordinator at San Francisco’s Department of the Environment, Soko has an integral role to increase awareness and compliance of city environmental ordinances and regulations. She assists with several government zero waste programs, including implementing food waste prevention and recovery technologies in institutional kitchens; promoting reuse of city-owned surplus materials through the its online exchange system; improving recycling and composting programs for city agencies; and developing contract specifications that support San Francisco’s environmental policies and goals.

Soko received her BA in Geology from Saint Louis University and MSEM degree from the University of San Francisco. When not focusing on environmental efforts, she can be found perusing cookbooks or exploring San Francisco’s diverse neighborhoods.
